Summer Reading Program info and reading records are now available at the library!

We have summer reading challenges ready to pick up! Preschoolers to high school students will find a variety of ways to keep learning and keep reading over the summer.

Summer Reading Program Information

Summer Reading 2016 Options- or “read to me” or independent readers.
1.    Timed Reading Records
 You fill in one quarter of a circle for every 15 minutes  you read or are read to.  Write the titles of the books the folded booklet.  Each hour equals 1 prize ticket.
Bring the reading record to the library to get tickets for prizes.   Read 10 hours and you receive a CHAMPION READER MEDAL!
2.  Reading BINGOS
Each Reading Bingo sheet has a possibility of 12 BINGOS on it, you get 1 prize ticket for every BINGO you complete.  Be sure to write the books you read (or are read to you) or the activity you complete for each space on the back of the BINGO sheets.  Complete 10 BINGOS and you receive a CHAMPION READER MEDAL!

You may choose both or choose one  and even combine your reading on both!

Reading Reward Prizes
Prizes will have different ticket values and will be marked. There will be items and coupons for Northfield businesses. You can save your tickets up for the higher valued items.   
Read 10 hours or get 10 BINGOS and you receive a CHAMPION READER MEDAL!
You can turn in your TIMED READING RECORDS or READING BINGOS on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursdays from 9-3 June 14 to August 18.

TEEN Summer Reading Program is for those going into grade 6 and up for more information check out the info in the YA area of the library or ask Ian Holmes.
Summer reading program materials will be available at the library beginning May 28.

Morning Storytimes- in the new BLUE area of the children's library.
10 am Tuesday  Infant Lapsit
10 am Wednesday Toddler Rhyme Time
10 am Thursday Preschool Stories
* all ages of children are welcome to the storytimes however the focus is directed at the different age groups.

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursdays from 9 to 11:30 and 12:30 to 3 kids are invited to "go shopping" with your reading tickets or get reading tutoring or to play learning games with the Library Pages! Please come to the first floor meeting room or outside on the west side of the library (Division St. Patio!) June 14 to August 18.


New this summer! 
Summer MATH Program
We have a special “Bedtime Math’s Summer of Numbers” for you to try.
For each constellation you complete you get 1 ticket, complete all three and get a glow -in-the dark flying disc! 
There is a website with the math problems, a free app and we have the books.

Library update

The Northfield Public Library will emerge from its construction cocoon this Saturday, May 7th at 10 and everyone is invited to the Grand Re-Opening ceremonies beginning at 10 AM with a formal ribbon cutting.  In the meantime the library at City Hall and the 210 Washington site are closed as we move the remaining materials and shelves and to prepare the new space. The bookdrop is not available during this time, and so please keep your items until we open.

We will have new hours beginning May 9 with Sunday hours from 1-5 pm running through June 5.  New weekly hours are Monday through Thursday 9 am to 8 pm, Friday 9 am to 6 pm, Saturday 9 am to 5 pm.
